My mother worked hard her entire life. She died before she ever could draw on social security. My father lost his job when he was 58, and my parents lost their health insurance. They began farming (milking cows) because that is all that they could do. Farming is brutally hard work especially for those in their fifties and sixties. My mother developed high blood pressure and type ll diabetes. If she had health coverage she would have been able to go to a doctor. She would have discovered these conditions and been able to get them treated. She would be alive today. She had a stroke and died at the age of 61.
